SALAM SPEAKS
Salam Speaks is an initiative to share elite-level speech and debate skills with the Muslim community in order to advance advocacy for peace and justice around the world.
ABOUT ME
Salam! I’m Waleed Haider, founder of Salam Speaks. In my time as a national circuit speech and debate competitor, I’m thankful to have racked up one of the best competitive records in the country by:
Winning the Texas Speaking State Championship by giving a speech supporting Palestine
Winning the Texas Congressional Debate State Championship
Placing as the National Runner-Up at the Harvard National Tournament
Winning 20+ other tournaments across America, including UT Austin’s Longhorn Classic and the Winston Churchill Classic
I want to share the skills I’ve built up with the entire Muslim community. By expanding political knowledge, passing on debating tactics, and building up strong public speakers, Salam Speaks will forge a new generation of Muslim American leaders and communicators.
Programs
-
Through Salam Speaks, I’ll be working directly with students on public speaking, debating skills, and political knowledge. I’ve already worked with 100+ students, and I’m excited to work with you too!
-
Building an in-depth knowledge of political and economic systems around the world is necessary for anyone who wants to be civically engaged.
Salam Speaks will be hosting sessions both online and in-person to build up that knowledge base within the Muslim community. We’ll also be discussing the most important information surrounding current events, to make sure Muslims are well-equipped to contribute to the national discussion surrounding them.
-
Later this year, Salam Speaks will be partnering with masjids across Texas to host intensives which spend 1-4 days building up political knowledge and speaking skills.
If you would like a Salam Speaks Intensive to be hosted within your community, feel free to contact me!
More info will be coming soon!
