Salam Speaks is an organization founded in consultation with leaders within already existing organizations, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations and IYL. Although there are already introductory courses to teach people about politics and public speaking, Salam Speaks is an initiative intended to take Muslims to an elite level.

To affect real political change, Muslims need to be engaged with issues at levels of government, and start conversations in every social space. Salam Speaks will combine an effort to improve public speaking skills and build in-depth political knowledge to make this possible. At higher levels, debaters are capable of making the same argument in dozens of different ways, and are able to approach problems with the ability to take multiple perspectives into account. This more intense form of education will foster the skills within the Muslim community needed for long-term political engagement.

Salam Speaks will accomplish this using courses, intensives, and seminars. Courses and intensives are meant to spend a long time engaging with students, teaching them everything they need to know. Seminars at Masjids and Muslim events will focus on how best to discuss our most pressing political priorities.
